I was watching a documentary on religion and faith in GOD the other day and got this funny feeling how deep this feeling is embedded deep inside us. It is so strong that it will force people to have conflicting ideas voluntarily.
Imagine a biologist who strongly believes in Darwinism and preaches his daughter or son about the almighty and how he created the entire life, scientist praying to God for the success of his experiment, new lab being opened after offering prayer to the almighty. Its clear to me that how deep this feeling of Religion and God have crept in to the everything including its bitter enemy "Science". The examples i gave above are mixed category of people who don't want to leave the feeling of theism as they have interests in science. Many great scientists like Isaac Newton, Kepler, Copernicus fall in this mixed category of people. But on the contrary and as said by Dan Brown in his book Angels and Demons there are an other sect of people who are atheists like Charles Darwin.
This very feeling of Religion and God does not only affect its enemy science but is also so enduring that any political campaign or a terrorist activity can be won easily in the name of it. But according to this documentary is saw, younger generation now-a-days are trying to understand the very existence and incorporation of religion in our species. They are trying to see it in an spiritual way which means a feeling which gives you peace of mind, increases knowledge of your surroundings. They see that these can be attained through scientific ways such as yoga, meditation which is way different than the meaning of religion and idol worship followed for centuries.
Finally to close this age old discussion, "Right to freedom" still exits in this world and people have every right to opt for what ever they wish to do.

@ Vee no it was in PBS channel....i like those documentaries in that channel.
I believe Science can be used to do both good (nuclear energy) and bad (nuclear bombs) to mankind and Religion is responsible for guiding in the right way. For e.g., (more of) theists don't do bad because of the fear of hell. Unfortunately religion is mis-used to divide the people/world and is most prevalent in India :(
